PRC Hosts June 24 Hard-To-Recycle Collection Event In Allegheny County

The PA Resources Council will host a Hard-To-Recycle Collection Event on June 24, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Quaker Valley High School, 625 Beaver St., in Leetsdale, Allegheny County to enable area residents to conveniently dispose of numerous items not suitable for curbside recycling.
Individuals can dispose of cell/home phones, CFL bulbs, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, UPS/servers, Zip drives, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, stereo equipment and video game consoles/DVD players at no cost.  
Participants will pay a fee to drop off televisions, computer monitors, printer, alkaline batteries, CDs/DVDs/floppy discs, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances, stereo speakers, tires (with and without rims) and VHS tapes.
As a special activity at the event, paper shredding for $5 per box to encourage safe and convenient disposal of unwanted confidential documents and records.  A mobile shredding truck will be on site, and 100 percent of the material will be recycled.
Other Allegheny County Hard-To-Recycle collection dates coming up include—
-- July 29: La Roche College, McCandless
-- August 12: Century III Mall, West Mifflin
-- October 7: Settlers Cabin Park
